At the end of every world sat a looming stone fortress, guarded by a decoy Bowser. Each time Mario braved the firebars and lava pits to defeat the beast, he was met by a faithful Mushroom Retainer who delivered the same bittersweet news: "Thank you Mario! But our princess is in another castle!"
