Most films leave subtitling to third-party localization agencies. Del Toro, however, took a different path. Disappointed by the subtitles of his previous film, The Devil's Backbone , he decided to write the English subtitles for Pan's Labyrinth himself. This accessibility has allowed the film to transcend
