The is a critical musculotendinous envelope that surrounds the glenohumeral (shoulder) joint, providing both dynamic stability and a wide range of motion . It consists of four distinct muscles, often remembered by the mnemonic SITS : the S upraspinatus, I nfraspinatus, T eres minor, and S ubscapularis. These muscles originate on the scapula (shoulder blade) and converge to form a unified "cuff" of tendons that attach to the head of the humerus (upper arm bone).
