The film follows Emily, an elementary school teacher, as she organizes the inaugural meeting for a group called the "Daughters for Aryan Unity". What starts as a seemingly polite mixer in a church rec room quickly devolves into a nightmare after an altercation at a local grocery store with two Asian-American sisters. The confrontation escalates into a home invasion and a series of horrific hate crimes.

Although filmed over four separate days, the movie is edited to appear as one continuous, unbroken shot. This creates an immersive, "fly-on-the-wall" perspective that many viewers find deeply anxiety-inducing.
